About Death Note Anime

Death Note is a popular Japanese manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. The series consists of 37 episodes and is available for streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu. Regarding its manga release, it was first serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump magazine from December 2003 to May 2006, spanning with its 12 volumes.

The story revolves around Light Yagami, a teenage high school boy with a brilliant mind. He accidentally discovers a mysterious notebook called the “Death Note,” which belonged to the Shinigami Ryuk. This notebook grants its user the extraordinary ability to kill anyone whose name is written on its pages.

The series delves deeply into Light Yagami’s life as he decides to use the Death Note to carry out worldwide violence in an attempt to create a crime-free society. Along his journey, Light encounters a diverse cast of characters, including Ryuk, Misa Amane, Nate River (Near), Mello, Kiyomi Takada, Soichiro Yagami, Teru Mikami, Naomi Misora, Touta Matsuda, Raye Penber, Hideki Ide, Hirokazu Ukita, Shuichi Aizawa, Sachiko Yagami, Kyosuke Higuchi, Sayu Yagami, and many more.

My Point of View: I watched Death Note years ago when I was a new anime fan. Reflecting on my experience, I’d say it’s a must-watch anime. Everything from its story, characters, and plot twists will keep you hooked with every episode. For me, Death Note is a solid 7/10 anime.
